Changes to UKBA student policy are announced to come into effect on 6 April 2012. Ministerial Statement of Intent published on 13 February 2012, lists important changes in the Immigration rules and Policy Guidance, affecting points-based system migrants. Some may potentially create retrospective effect unless transitional arrangements are made.
New maintenance requirements and limits on the time permissible to spend in the UK studying at a graduate level will be incorporated into the Immigration Rules affecting Tier 4 migrants from April 2012.
With the withdrawal of the Post-Study Work programme in April 2012, those who have completed their studies in the UK at degree level or above will be permitted to join the UK labour market as Tier 2 migrants, provided they have a valid certificate of sponsorship from a licensed UK employer.
